Thomas Waterman Wood was a highly skilled portrait artist who brought the same skillful draftsmanship to his etching that he demonstrated in his paintings. This work shows a craftsman in his workshop pausing to think about some news that he has just read in a Boston newspaper. It is a finely composed and crated portrait that works well as piece of fine art and also a record of a way of life in 19th century New England that no longer exists. This is an excellent 19th century American etching.Shipping
