How something so large and heavy could have survived for probably over 100 years is amazing to me. This was more than likely used comercially in a restaurant or school dining hall. From the color inside and around the brass spigot, it was probably tea. The number 3 meant it held 3 gallons and with the weight of the crock itself and the tea, the holding container must have been so heavy even a man would have had a hard time to refill the bottom part. I am sure there were many bad words said when lifting it, pouring it and hearing it bang into each other...thus creating the battle scars it now carries. I tried to show in my pictures what I call battle scars and what makes it so interesting and shows it was used and still in remarkable condition considering usage and age. I could not find one like this at all on the internet and I searched a long time. It is 25\" in height for all 3 piecesand 11 1/4\" across the top without the lid. It is big and heavy so it will be mailed in 2-3 boxes for safety and the cost will be high. If I overcharge I will refund the difference and if I undercharge I will absorb the cost.
