Offered for sale by Caspar’s Place is a sterling silver peanut shaped pillboxmade in London by Tiffany & Company. The pillbox is marked with “TIFFANY &CO”; “ENGLAND”; and “STERLING”. It also bears four marks related to its beingmade in England: a lion passant forsterling; an uncrowned leopard’s head for assayed in London; “d” for made in 1959;and “T&CO” - the maker’s mark for Tiffany.

Iwas not previously aware that Tiffany & Company madesilver in England. Apparently Tiffanyestablisheda London branch around 1868. Their first mark entered at Goldsmiths Hall in1892 was A.W.F. - the initials of their London manager. The T&Co markprobably replaced this somewhere around the 1930s.

This peanut pillbox is in good estate condition,although with the small signs of old tarnish and wear to beexpected with age and use. The piece’sprice reflects its condition. This peanutpillbox will make a lovely addition to any silver or novelty collection.

The pillbox weighs approximately 0.880 troyounces. It is roughly 1.625” long and 0.75”in diameter.
