Description: This is NOT a copy or stat or proof. This is the original art (pen and ink over pencil) for the comic strip, drawn by Mal Eaton.

Eaton\'sdeft mastery of cleanline andhumoris on fulldisplay as this strip presents afunnyscene in which Tizzy learns not to eat while she gets excited. In the days before television, radio was the source of much entertainment. Here, Tizzy munches away as she listens to a soap opera and a boxing match. She gets a bit worked up over the soap opera, but the boxing match just puts her over the top, as the champ gets kayoed unexpectedly.AnicelyrenderedSunday with a cute gag.TIZZY originals are scarce as the strip ran for just over a year (by my count, there were only 57 Sundays during the period in which it ran which makes this a tough strip).

Character and Artist Information:

TIZZYwas a UScomic strip which ranon Sundays from 12/22/46 through 1/18/49.The strip was written and drawn for its entire run byMal Eaton, an American artist who also created the comic strips Peter Piltdown, Pookie and Rocky Stoneaxe (which was a revival of Peter Piltdown but with a name change following the discovery thatthe \"Piltdown Man\" was a fraud; Rockyran in Boy\'s Life Magazine from the 1950s through 1973), and wasa prolific caricaturist.Thetitle character, Tizzy, was a young tomboy whose adventuresalways seemed to lead herintotrouble (for which she usually paid the price).

Condition: This art is invery goodcondition Bainbridge Kromo-Liteart board. Excepting the title and artist name in the first panel (both are stats), there are no stats orpaste overs. There are severalminorwhite out corrections.Full margins.Minor spots, stainsand smudges to art.Board has overalltanning. Minor to moderate edge wear.

Don’t let this one pass you by. A ‘must” for Eaton or Tizzyfans, comic book or strip or illustration art collectors, or anyone who appreciates a nicelydrawn strip or aclassic piece of Americana.
