VINTAGE TURKISH KILIM This area rug was donated to our nonprofit near Dayton, Ohioso I don\'t havethe details ofits age or origin.
It is made of hand-woven wool andcolored with vegetable dyes,and most likely was made in Turkey.
It was woven in two pieces lengthwise and sewn together down the middle. Nomadic tribes do this so they don\'t cart huge looms with them.
It is a \"split kilim\", which is valued by collectorsbecause it gives a sharper edge to the geometric designs.
Thepatterns have faded over most of the rug, but it is still very colorful, particularly the bright orange.
