This print is from BALDWYN\'S NEW SYSTEM OF UNIVERSAL GEOGRAPHY, The print was published by Alexander Hogg, London, England circa Feb 16, 1794. The two prints which are titled, \"Habit of a young woman of otaheite BRINGING A PRESENT.\" and \"Habit of A YOUNG WOMAN OF OTAHEITE Dancing.\" The original prints which are of these images were done by John Webber who published his prints in Cooks Voyages in 1784. Baldwyn and Alexander Hogg then hired another engraver to do an engraved copy of the original Webber prints. You could not just Xerox a copy of a print. These is a 220 year old print from one of the engravings done \"after Webber\". On the lower left of the Present is the unreadable name of the engraver. Page size is 14 7/8 inches x 9 3/8 inches. Platemark size is 13 3/4 inches x 9 1/4 inches. These poor Tahitian dancers had to be covered up for the presentation in England so they really dressed them up. I can imagine it was mighty uncomfortable in Tahiti.
