Up for sale is a stunning Underwood and Underwood Sun Sculpture Stereoscope Viewer with 50 Underwood and Underwood Stereoview Cards
First the viewer - it is stunning with the black accents - I can\'t find another one like this - the black on metal contrast really highlights the artwork in the metal. The wood looks like it is a tiger maple.Now it does have some flaws - missing the leather/felt accent where you put your face, missing a small piece of wood (nails are still there as you can see). Missing one of the metal holders. I would think each of these flaws can be overcome with a little restoration.Now the cards, there is a wide selection of cards in a book shaped case (the case is in rough shape). The topics include: - Fireworks in New York - Santa Claus - Easter - 4 Set of Halloween cards - bobbing for apples - Travel - Palestine, India - Worlds Fair - Eskimo Hunt - Farm Scenes - Kids Scenes - Etc EtcYou get the idea - a WIDE selection - the dates seem to be from 1895-1904. Some have numbers which leads me to think they are part of a set (for example - the Halloween ones are numbered 1-4), but many do not. It looks like the travel ones seem to be part of a larger set. My scanner added a metallic hue to some of the pictures - the cards themselves do not have this.
These came as-is - nothing has been removed. I\'m no expert, so there may be some rare gems in here - I don\'t know. I\'ve posted pics of as many as I can. If you need more pics of anything, just ask.
I\'d like to keep these as a set since they were all found together - I have a fair starting offer in hopes that they stay together. If no one offers then I will break these up and sell them individually.
