Such was the need for fighting knives during WW2 that the US government purchased almost the entire production of most American cutlery companies. The famous W.R. Case & Sons of Bradford, PA produced a simple yet attractive dagger known as the \"Pig Sticker\" for sale to US servicemen going overseas. This US Army WW2 NAMED CASE \"PIG STICKER\" FIGHTING KNIFE is in fair condition, with some light rounding to the blade tip, some light sharpening to the blade edges, heavy pitting, some cleaning, and some scratching at each side of the blade, some scattered patina at each side of the ricasso, some scattered darkening to the handle scales, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the knife is in fair shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a sleek 5.75\" spearpoint double edge dagger blade, sports neatly hand scored brown hardwood handle scales, and carries the service number \"L - 8747\" and the surname \"LiND\" scratched into the sides of those handle scales, identifying the knife to Private Carl M. Lind, who enlisted in the US Army at Peoria, Illinois on December 7, 1942 at the age of 20. It\'s stamped with serifs at the ricasso with its maker, the famous \"CASE\", and is an honest example of a very rare, originalUS Army WW2 NAMED CASE \"PIG STICKER\" FIGHTING KNIFE.
