AN ORIGINAL CARBINE SOCKET OR SOMETIMES CALL THIMBLE FOR THE CIVIL WAR 1859McCLELLAN SADDLE.

THIS SOCKET WAS USED INTO THE INDIAN WAR PERIOD UNTIL IT WAS REPLACED BY THE 1885 CARBINE BOOT. IT WAS FASTENED ON THE \"D\" RING OF THE SADDLE. THE TROOPER CARBINE BARREL WOULD SIMPLY SLIP INTO TO THE SOCKET TO PREVENT THE CARBINE FROM BOUNCING IN THE FIELD ON HORSE BACK.

THIS ONE IS IN EXCELLENTCONDITION. THE LEATHER IS BLACK IN COLOR WITH SOME SURFACE CRAZING.
