TheseVintage Wool Felt Boots are from the Estate of a US Army Air Corps (now USAF)Pilot. The only marking we could find onthe boots is the word “HIKER” embossed n to the heel. We purchased these at the Estate Sale of a USMilitary WWII Pilot some years back. Bythe time we got to the sale all of the Military items (WWII, Pre-War, and after) were gone. We decided to take a chance on these bootsbecause of the age, and because we thought they were cool. After researching these boots we realizedthat they are likely US Army Air Corps Pilot Boots. We’ve pulled pages and pages of similarperiod footwear and one thing that stuck out was how many variations of thisbasic pattern were out there. Seems likethese were passed over at the Estate Sale because they say Hiker on theheel. It has been our experience thatthis is not necessarily an indication of commercial footwear vs. MilitarySurplus. We have found plenty of GenuineUS Military Items, especially WWII “War Effort” Production where some civiliancomponents were used in assembly to finish a production run. Of course there is a chance that the heelswere a resole or these are just Civilian Boots based on the Pilot Boots or thatthese are the Civilian Boots that the Pilot boots were based on. In all the years since these were made, thepossibilities are numerous. At any rate,we believe these to be Military Boots and or Genuine Vintage………For what that’sworth.
