As the war in the Pacific moved north toward Japan in early 1945, US Marines on Iwo Jima turned to the khaki wool service and combat shirt for warmth in the cold, rainy spring weather. This USMC Marine US WW2 \"IWO JIMA\" KHAKI WOOL SERVICE & COMBAT SHIRT is in near mint condition, with a very small loose thread at the left chest pocket button, and with a very small spot of mothing evident at the middle left chest (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the shirt is in near mint shape, with no other damage to the crisp khaki wool construction. Most interestingly, it boasts the classic white cotton underside of the right front placket, sports a single USMC forest green wool on khaki twill Private First Class chevron at the left sleeve, and is dated \"April 28, 1942\" on the original nomenclature tag at the interior right hem. It\'s a Size 36 (translating to a Size \"1\" in Old Corps sizing), features single exposed button \"scalloped\" flap closure chest pockets, and carries what appears to be the name \"L. JOHNSON\" stamped in black at the inside neck. A beautiful example of a rare, originalUSMC Marine US WW2 \"IWO JIMA\" KHAKI WOOL SERVICE & COMBAT SHIRT.
