After turning the tide at Guadalcanal, the Leathernecks slugged it out with the Japanese island by island on the long, hard road to Tokyo. US Marines early in WW2carried the Thompson ammo drum in a specially designed pouch that could be worn either on the pistol belt or over the shoulder.This USMC Marine US WW2 THOMPSON SMG KHAKI DRUM AMMO POUCH is in excellent condition, with an overall malodorous air from storage in a smoky room, some light dark soiling at the lower right front flap, a very small, hardly noticeable spot of orangish brown soiling at the upper left back, a small surface nick at the top shoulder strap, and with some light scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the pouch is in excellent shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or other damage to the crisp khaki canvas construction. Most interestingly, it\'s boldly \"U.S.M.C.\" stamped with serifs at front, sports the original khaki canvas shoulder strap that\'s tapered at each end, and is marked at the underside of the flap with its maker and date, \"R.M. Co. / 1942\".
