Description: Eva Zeisel, an extremely rare hanging basket-style Planter (model 3288) with original hooks, Schramberger Majolika-Fabrik, Schramberg, Germany, circa 1929-35. Décor Schottland. Height of planter 4 1/2 in. (11.4 cm), dia. 7 3/4 in. (19.7 cm). 1620-025.
The model number (3288) is impressed in the interior (see photos). There is a label from the Mingei Museum, where the planter was briefly on loan.

Condition Report: Overall very good condition. The hardware seems to be original except for one S-shaped hanger (see photos). The metal S-Shaped hangers are rusted as could be expected from being used to hold a plant that was frequently watered. There is some rubbing of the glaze where the metal hangers hit the rim of the planter pot. Please note that Schramberg produced a very light ceramic body in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Objects were meant to be frequently replaced. Most pieces have some tiny nicks to edges from use, as does this planter. There are rough spots around the openings for the chain because they were designed so that the metal was in direct contact with the unglazed openings or the glazed rims.
