Civil War soldier document, Camp Frieze Tennalytown DC, 10th Reg R. I. V. June 20, 1862, 3 legal pages, manuscript order prepared by John Fry Toley as ordered by Z. R. Bliss (Zanas Randall), 14 sections cover for example dividing regiments into squads, cleanliness and appearance of men and quarters (great detail), preparation and placement of knapsack and keeping boot clean, keeping dirty clothes under bedding, cleaning mess utensils, keeping track of guns and other items, fitting belts properly, polishing cartridge boxes and bayonets, arms not to be loaded in the tents, preparation of food in kitchen, courtesy of military men, meeting and greeting officers by men who have only a side arm, more ways to greet officers, protocol for visiting officers.
Boy these folks run their units like a military school. )But discipline is key element to staying alive on battlefield). By order of Z. R. Bliss, Col Comdy, John Fry Tobey, Lieut and Adjutant. Some edge roughness and small tears, small pieces missing on two corners, some folds. Very nice Rhode Island related document.
Camp Frieze (1862) located in Tennallytown (Tenleytown) a camp of many in the District of Columbia during parts of the Civil War. I am probably mistaken but somewhere in my research I read that Camp Frieze was name for John Frieze. I cannot find the research now as I was looking when I first got the document a number of months ago.John Fry TobeyResidence Providence RI; Enlisted on 5/26/1862 at Providence, RI as a 1st Lieutenant. On 5/26/1862 he was commissioned into \"K\" Co.
