Unique Boomerang Shaped Aboriginal Club from South Australia / S.W. Queensland :

This double pointed club, cylindrical in section and boomerang shaped, must be amongst the rarest of Australian Aboriginal clubs. During the considerable time that it has been in my collection I have seen only one reference to a comparable example, which is shown in the second of my images, courtesy of the South Australia Museum. (Please do note that this horizontal second image is notan image of the item for sale)
The museum proposes that their item may be from an early 19th C exploratory expedition in the north-east corner of South Australia. (Discounting arbitrary state boundaries, this is the same geographical region as the extreme South West of Queensland, which may well be the origin of this piece)
The club is in excellent condition and has a beautiful dark-honeyed patina with some very subtle surface rippling from the working of the very dense hardwood. It has all the appearance of a nineteenth century piece. I only noticed during photography that there is a faint inscription (third image), apparently with an ink nib, at the middle of the club\'s arc. This could do with some research ..
