Age / Size: Estimated to be mid to late 1940s / 32mm diameter not including the crown

Case Condition: This case rates right around “GOOD” overall condition and please note that there IS chrome plating finish wear to the underneath area of the bezel but the top side of the bezel still presents decently enough.

Case Metal: Chrome plated bezel, stainless steel screw down case back

Dial Condition: This dial was customized a LONG time ago- likely when this watch was new or shortly thereafter- so the watch dial is between 6 and 7 decades old and still looking nice and rates VERY GOOD to VERY GOOD PLUS condition. There is dust / lint both on the inside of the crystal and on the surface of the dial. A gentleman named SAMUEL WELCH obviously had this dial custom made and the quality of the dial paint and luminous material is very nice indeed. HELLO SAMUEL WELCH’s of the modern day here and now- this watch is FOR YOU!!

Movement Type: Savoy Watch Co. –this is a base caliber ST Caliber 1686 and is the 7 Jewel version of this ebauche.

Working / Non-Working: This watch does wind and set the time smoothly and the watch has kept time about TWO minutes SLOW over the 23+ hours that I have tested the watch sitting here on my desk. That’s a STRONG timekeeping test result for a watch just coming out of long term storage with an unknown service history. I do not own or use a digital diagnostic tool that gives exact seconds of timekeeping error per 24 hours- this watch was tested simply by being set against my computer clock and then checking back later on against the same clock- there can be some small error built into such testing.

Extra’s: Here for your offerding pleasure is a mid to late 1940s era special CUSTOM DIAL military style gents wristwatch- take a look at the dial on this beauty- this watch is calling out to SAMUEL WELCH !! A gentleman by that name must have ordered up this custom dial way back in the day when this watch was new or nearly new. The style of the dial is decidedly sporty with the luminous material filling both the hour and minute hands and all of the “letters” that are hour markers!! This watch does wind and set the time smoothly and has run and kept time about TWO minutes SLOW over my 23+ hour timekeeping test of it- NOT BAD for the base caliber ST 1686 7 Jewel manual winding Swiss Made movement. As you can see in the photos, the case of this watch does have wear to the chrome plated bezel finish, but most of that wear is to the back side of the bezel- the case still presents decently well. This watch comes with what looks like a nearly new olive drab World War 2 / Korean War era ONE PIECE canvas strap- I really do not think that this strap has been used much at all, if at all.
