Agood condition example of a 1941 Russia War Relief (RWR) insignia. TheRussian War Relief was an American organization formed to collect and shiprelief supplies to the Soviet allies.This old WW-II insignia features a paratrooper with a \"Russian WarRelief\" banner. The back of the pinis marked \"Official R.W.R.\".During the 1941- 1942 period, volunteer U.S. Parachutists made\"spot landing\" parachute jumps at Air Shows to obtain donations forthe US Government to provide additional assistance to the Russians during theheavy fighting against the Germans.These insignia were sold to raise money and donations. The brooches weremade in bronze, silver and gold colored metals and believe this is the goldinsignia. This pin is made from 2castings put together to give the 3 dimensional look to the parachute. On thereverse, you will see the raised words OFFICIAL R.W.R. (Russian War Relief).These pins are scarce and not readily found. The pin measures approximately2\" x 1 1/2\" and still has the broach pin fastener.
