Up for sale with is the most amazing 19th Century, Victorian Period, Rosewood and Mother of Pearl Inlaid Sewing Box or Jewellery Chest. The Chest is the finest example I have sold in years featuring great Victorian Period form and designs throughout. The Box is top notch quality being Rosewood veneer which would have been incredibly expensive at the time and featuring the best Mother of Pearl inlay I have personally seen on a chest of this type. The Box also features nice side handes and carved designs to the front base and feet. The Box interior has been changed sometime in the past, it was most likely a Jewellery Chest originally, but someone now has made it into more of a Sewing Box with a lovely Silk interior. The Box displays beautifully with some signs of it\'s great age including some missing Mother of Pearl inlay, a chip toone front corner of the lid, one handle is repairedplus some minor seperation from wood shrinkage but honestly it is so much more impressive and beautiful in real life I am sure the new owner will be most thrilled. There is a Key but we were unable to get the lock to work, I am sure it just needs some oil or slight adjustment. The Box is quite large and practical for modern use or display measuring 13-1/2\" wide by 10-1/4\" deep by 7\" tall. I love this Chest and I am sure the new owner will too.
