This listing is for a beautiful and finely decorated Japanese Satsuma pottery covered jar dating to the Meiji period. The exterior decorated with two large reserves on a ground of flowers accented with gilt. One side depicts a large group of figures within a landscape and the reverse having a birds perched upon the branch of a blossoming tree. Detail in the work is of superb quality as can be seen in the photos and is signed on the underside. The jar has nice size measuring 6.5 inches across the body and standing 5 inches tall to the top of the domed cover. Condition is excellent with no apparent damages. Just some minor wear to the gilt and some light and minor toning to the pottery of the underside.(#6620)
