Antique, wonderful quality Russian silver compact - circa 1890.
Bears the hallmark of the famed Feodor Ruckert (1840-1917) who was also working with and for Faberge - also an \'84\' silver grade mark and a french import insect mark used only between 1864-1893.
The compact is unusually large and heavy - done in Tromp l\'oeil technique and hand-chased to assimilate a woven design - outstanding quality!!
It is applied with a large and very elaborate solid gold monogram - I can not make out the characters, they are probably in Cyrillic alphabet - inside an oval, beveled mirror.
Excellent condition for the age - no losses, dents or repairs - the original, inside mirror has lost some of the mercury - please examine all detailed pictures.
It measures 10 x 7 cm and the weight is 150.5 grams
