Rare faux tortoise shell busk with silver monogramMeasures 12 1/2\" in length and 1 3/4\" at widest point.Likely early 19th century possibly a China trade item of that time period. Perhaps a gift of a sailor to his bride.Condition: Obviously the silver monogram/crest is damaged (partially missing), the curved end has some chips along the edge, the piece is slightly warped from years in storage. See photos.Otherwise surprisingly good sturdy condition for the age.A wonderful and very rare piece!
