VERY RARE ENGLISH CARVED-WOOD POTTER\'S DECORATIVE COGGLE WHEEL - CIRCA 1800-1830 - WOW!!!
Up for sale is:VERY RARE ENGLISH CARVED-WOOD POTTER\'S DECORATIVE COGGLE WHEEL - CIRCA 1800-1830.This Early to Mid-19th Century English Carved-Wood Decorative Coggle Wheel (Overall: 5-1/16\" x Width: 1-7/8\" - Wheel: 2-1/4 x 1-3/32\"\"), Most Likely Hand-Carved in the England, is Beautifully Carved with a Decorative Off-Set Back-to-Back Shallow \"Egg & Dart\" (without the \"Egg\") Style Ornament, in Between Two Bands of Reeding or Blocking!!! These Decorative Coggle Wheels were Used to put a Continuous Decorative Band Around a Crock, Jar, Tea Pot, or Any other Piece of Stoneware or Redware Pottery that the Potter Wanted to Decorate!!! You Rarely Find these Coggle Wheels, because once their Design Started to Wear beyond Simply Re-Carving, they would be Thrown Away or Burned, so this one is a True Survivor!!! I Purchased this Coggle Wheel from a Dealer in England around 20 Years ago... This Coggle Wheel is in Very Good, as Found Condition in it\'s Original Surface, with Typical Age and Usage Wear from being Repeatedly Rolled Around on Clay, there are also Cracks in the Wood at the Top of the Handle and Around the Wheel (Please See Photos), Most Likely Caused by the Clay\'s Moisture and the Woods Repeated Expanding and Shrinking as it Dried, the Wheel\'s Arbor is a little Loose, though Fits Perfectly and Holds the Wheel on the Handle just Fine and has Only been Dusted Off when it was Cleaned!!! Some People will Think that this is a Pastry Wheel, but upon Closer Inspection, you will See that the Design is Carved into the Wood Much Shallower than Any Pastry Wheel would have been, even with the Usage Wear, the Interior Design isStill Pretty Crisp and Shallow, which Suggests that this Wheel was Carved for Use on Clay, Plaster or Some other Malleable Material and Not Dough, which would Lose the Design shortly after it was Rolled... I Have Done Nothing to this Coggle Wheel other than Wipe the Dust Off of it from having been on a Display Shelf for Many Years!!! This Very Rare Potter\'s Decorative Coggle Wheel isTruly Wonderful and will Make a Great Display Piece along with your Early English Decorated Pottery Collection!!! Please Understand that this Coggle WheelisNot in Perfect, Museum Quality Condition, it was Used Daily and Has the Corresponding Wear as one would Expect... I Think that you will be Very Happy with this Early toMid-19th CenturyEnglish Carved-Wood Decorative Coggle Wheel, it\'s an Incredible Piece!!!
My Shipping Charge Is For A Small Flat-Rate Box With Insurance Added In, I Will Give You A Refund If Insurance Is Less... The Coggle Wheel Will Be Disassembled, Wrapped Individually and Shipped Flat...I Will Be More Than Happy To Combine Shipping If You Win More Than One Of My Items Within A Few Days Of Each Other, Just Let Me Know If That Is What You Would Like To Do!!!Now to the \"Fine Print\"DESCRIPTIONS: I am somewhat Obsessive-Compulsive, and so I Try to Over-Describe All of my Items so that you will Know Exactly What you are offerding on, and Receive Exactly What I have Described. I am Very Easy to Work with on Most Issues, as I Do Want You To Be Happy With Your Purchase, But Please Don\'t Try To Take Advantage Of Me, I Wouldn\'t Think Of Trying To Take Advantage Of You... I Don\'t Want Or Need Any Extra Problems and I\'m Sure That You Don\'t Either, So Let\'s Play Nice!!!PACKING & SHIPPING: OK, I Dislike Sellers Who Package Their Items Poorly (Most Especially Books!!!), Just Tossing The Item In To A Padded Envelope (If You\'re Lucky) With No Extra Padding Or Protection!!! So, I Package Very Well, with Extra Padding or Reinforcement When Needed, I Want Any Item that you Have Won From Me to Arrive in the Same Condition as it was in when it Left Me, so I Over-Package!!! I will also Provide Delivery Confirmation for All Items that Sell for Over $10.00, and Require INSURANCE for Any Item that Sells for Over $50.00 - This Protects You and Myself if Something Unfortunate Happens to your Package. I am also Very Happy to Combine Shipping on sales that End within a few Days of each other, Please Let Me Know if this is what you would Like to do, so I can Hold them Back before Packaging them... I Package and Ship Your Package Usually Within One (1) Day Of Receiving Your Payment, Unless the sale Ends on the Weekend or a Holiday...Well, I Think that about Covers Everything!!! Please Do Feel Free To Ask Me Questions About Any Of My sales, I Want You To Know Exactly What You\'re offerding On BEFORE You offer, That Way There\'s No Heart-Break For Any Of Us...
