$864.12

A rare and fine gold gilt wire Japanese cloisonné vase from the Meiji era (1868 - 1912), probably form the 1890\'s. The vase is in round form with very short, wide neck and mouth. The shoulders are broad and rounded and the body is rounded out then tapering down to a narrow foot. The rims are thick and chunky and are gold-gilt, as is the base plate.
The design is an all-over 360-degree pattern of various shaped cartouches, each with a naturalistic scene with flowers and different detailed birds and butterflies with different colored backgrounds. Floating around on the polished, wireless mirror black background are various objects which appear to be \"gifts.\" There is a beautiful border at the shoulder area.
The vase is 7\" tall. Unsigned by there is a strong attribution to Shibata of Kyoto, a contemporary of Namikawa Yasayuki. Excellent antique condition. Stand not included. Ask all questions before offerding.
