Greetings!For your consideration: A very scarce French Edition of \"The Legend of The Wondering Jew\" published by J. Best for the Librairie du Magasin Pittoresque,, Paris, 1862. Second edition (first 1856) of Doré\'s darkly humorous rendering of Dupont\'s poem, complete with Béranger\'s accompanying ballad set to music by Ernest Doré. Large folio (580 × 360 mm) (23 x 16.5 inches), pp. 12 (text and music), plus 12 wood engraved plates, tissue guards. Publishers\' cloth backed printed boards. Somewhat dust-soiled, upper forecorner of upper back cover missing a chip. The spine ihas some ripped fabric that exposes the binding and the front hinge is cracked on the front board. However, the pages are secured nicely and the binding is strong and tight. There is heavy foxing to the first couple pages however the lithographs are in Near Fine condition with almost no foxing or age spotting if any. All tissues intact.
