This fantastic piece of Omar Ramsden silver measures 475mm (19\'\') tall including the chains with the base measuring 130mm (5\'\') x 155mm (6\'\') across with the top ring measuring 95mm (3.75\'\') across and weighs an impressive 1050 grams or nearly 34 Troy ounces. It is fully marked for solid English sterling silver London 1937 with the makers mark for the famous silversmith designer Omar Ramsden. It has a fantastic Arts & Crafts design to it with an almost Benson light fitting design to the base with the decorative spheres and heavy curled leaves all still showing signs of the original planishing. It bears a contemporary inscription around the top ring which reads \" In remembrance of John Windram Saunders and all those others who have passed over \" and was most likely a specially commissioned ecclesiastical piece perhaps intended for use as an incense burner? It is as you would expect exceptionally well crafted and is in excellent condition with no repairs and a great patina to the silver. A quite possibly unique piece of silver from one of the finest exponents of the Arts & Crafts movement and a true investment or museum piece.
