On offer is a truly exceptional Victorian c1800 silver & goldsealing wax container withcarnelianscarab beetle cover (\'circle of life\') and seal / matrix base. Seal appears to have a royal connection (heraldic crown). Inside ofcarneliancover with unusual masonic carving of a feather, eye, arrow, etc.). Lid clips shut through latch to container.No makers mark apparent, but as the photos indicate, the quality is exceptional which points to only a handful of makers - perhaps Austrian or Russian? Never seen anything like it before, so a real collectors piece.

Height 3 cm. Condition excellent. There is a small hole to the mouth of the beetle - something lacking?
