Lovely vintage Henry Birks & Sons Sterling Compote, Footed Dish.
Fully hallmarked with the Canadian national stamp of a lion\'s head inside the letter C,
the lion passant indicating sterling, and the date letter K, capitalized inside a square, indicating the year 1945.
The compote is also stamped \"Birks\" and \"Sterling\" and with the numbers 98/18.Birks continued to use letter date stamps up to 1962, at which point they simply used \"Birks\" and \"Sterling\" together as their identity of quality.
Compote measures 5\" across and 2 1/2\" high.
Interior design shows repousse and chased poppies surrounded by fluted pierced panels and border. Gadroon edge.
Around the rim is a delicate and complex pierce work edge design.
Not monogrammed and no damage or scratches.
Total weight is .90 grams.
