Up for sale is a Vintage Leather Football Helmet. I am not sure of the exact year this helmet was made or used, but I found a similar one on and it was listed as circa 1940\'s. The helmet has brown leatheraround the base of the helmet. The top of the helmet is white and I believe to made of a thick plastic/composite. The inside is lined around the base with cotton padding. To me it appears kind of like sheep wool. Again I am not 100% sure of the material. The helmet does come with a strap to keep the helmet snug on the head. I picked this up at an estate sale because I thought it was neat. It is in used condition and does show wear. The top has some scuff and scrapes, but overall is intact. The leather has some wear and cracking in areas. There is a black line on the leather on one side of the helmet. I am not sure what this is from. On the backside on the letter embossed is the number 5500 with the letter S below it. On the front embossed in the leather is a circle that says \" Sporting Goods\" written on the inside. The stitching on the leather appears to be in good shape. I cleaned the leather with leather cleaner/saddle soap. I put this helmet on a cosmetology doll head that I have to show you how it fits. To me it does appear to have some warping, but I assume this is from age and use. I have taken several pictures of this item so please take a look. What you see is what you get. If you are a football fan and a collector of football memorabilia this would be a great item to add to a collection. It would look nice sittingout for display in a man cave or den.
