Thisnecklace is made of a vintage 1950\'s Murano glass pendant. This pendant camewith an estate sale lot of loose beads and pendants.

Oneclue to as to whether or not a glass bead or pendant is truly from the island of Murano in the Venetian lagoon, is to seeif the color on the glass is painted on.It if it painted on the surface of the glass, it is NOT Murano/Venetianglass. The true Murano glass is madefrom a special method with special materials and the colors are blown into theglass.

Inthe 50’s and 60’s, it was common to have pendants with a metal loop built intothe bead or pendant itself. Today, mostbeads and pendants are made with a hole and the designer will choose the typeof material to attach it to the beading material – such as silk beadingthread/cord, natural fiber, ribbon, metal “findings”, etc.

Forthis necklace, I matched the Murano pendant with natural colored wood beads andnatural fiber/cord to create a casual necklace that can be worn with jeans, orgo beautifully with the fall colors against a suede or leather material.

Thenecklace is held together with a silver plated, nickel-free toggle clasp for anupdated yet still vintage feel.

Thenecklace is 18” long (45 cm). The Muranopendant is 1.5” long and 1.25” wide (3.75 cm x 3.125 cm).
