VINTAGE PAWN STERLING & NATURAL CORAL SQUASH BLOSSOM NECKLACE - MARCELLA JAMES:

Offered here for your consideration is a lovely quality vintage Sterlingsilver and NATURAL CORAL boxbow squash blossom necklace by Navajo artistMarcella James.This is a heavy necklace despite its delicate design! This beautiful necklace consists of20silverblossoms (ten on each side) and a pendant or ‘naja’ made of tri-wire, twistedwire and three coral cabochons. Each blossom features a domed natural coralcabochon and stamping on the silver backing. Just to note that one of the coralstones is sitting lower than the others but is solid in it’s bezel. Thenecklace is strung on sturdy, flexible, foxtail wire and has a hook and eyeclasp. I see no damage to either stones or silver. The necklace is out of pawnand still has it’s pawn tag (erroneously marked ‘Zuni’ as the artist (and thisstamp) is shown in Hougart’s “Marks on Southwestern Silver” as Navajo!) whichwill be included with the necklace. This piece is hallmarked Sterling andstamped Marcella James (the James is missing a few letters). Expertly crafted;a lot of time goes into making this type of necklace!! The price of naturalcoral has skyrocketed so this is a nice investment piece. It is a classic1940’s style necklace in excellent vintage condition. Great for collectors ofcoral!

The central naja pendant measures 2\" X 1 3/4\".

Each \'blossom\' measure 1 3/8” X 3/8\".

Total hanging length top to bottom as you see it in the picture is 16\".

Total length end to end is 32” including the hook and loop closure.

Weight: approximately 107.5 grams!!
