Description
This is one of the most charming vintage candy containers that I have ever seen! It is a fairly large blue chenille chick girl, in all her Easter finery, sitting atop an egg-shaped box, covered in a wonderful pink with little blue flowers paper. The candy container dates to the 1950\'s, and comes from Van Duyn in Portland Oregon (has a foil label on the bottom). It would have been a very special Easter gift for a very special girl!
The chenille chick has a wonderful tulle hat with pink bow, and is wearing a multi-layered tulle skirt. She is holding a small bouquet of cotton flowers with a little silk ribbon. She would measure, if straightened 8 1/2" tall. Her head is painted paper mache, and her beak is paper. Her chenille body is clean and bright, but a slight bit flattened. Her tulle is a bit flattened, as is her bow.
The box is in great condition - clean inside and out. It has faded a bit over time, which you can see when the lid is removed. There are a very small small age discoloration spots.
All of the flaws are very minimal, and the piece overall has a lovely "patina" - the aged look that items get over time. She looks her age, but has aged well! This piece won\'t disappoint!
The box with chick measures 6 1/2" tall, and is 4 1/2" long. The box by itself is just over 2" tall. Ihave lots of vintage and antique holiday pieces, so take a look!
