Stunning Duncan & Miller Art Glass Bowl with 12 Plates
Large heavy pink shell-shaped opalescent glass serving bowl/centerpiece with 12 nappy serving plates. Gorgeous set for serving salad, fruit, hors d\'oeuvres, desserts and anything else your creativity can come up with! Absolutely perfect for shrimp salad!!
No scratches, chips, or utensil marks--these really do appear unused. Excellent vintage condition. A complete set like this is VERY hard to find.
These are beautiful quality glass from a high end maker, Duncan & Miller, a company which was founded in 1865.Duncan differentiated itself through exceptional artistry and design. This was accomplished by employing highly skilled workers, and using unique batch formulas to produce colorful glass.The production process for each piece usually required 10 craftsmen.
These are very substantial pieces. The centerpiece bowl alone weighs in at almost 5 pounds. Each plate weighs about 1 1/4 pounds. This set is made up of about 20 pounds of glass!
The photos do not show the real beauty of the colors in this glass which range from clear to a pale pinkish white to a shrimp pink. The centerpiece bowl measures about 13 inches by 13 inches. The highest curl on the edge is 3 1/2 inches. The plates measure 8 inches by 9 inches.
