This listing is for a sweet Easter toy - a baby rattle made from Styrene (hard plastic) by Irwin, dating to the late 1940\'s, early 1950\'s. Irwin was THE leader in the manufacture of celluloid and later hard plastic toys and novelties, inventing non-flammable celluloid. Their toys and candy containers are highly prized by collectors because they are made from high quality thick plastic, with wonderful designs that are very Art Deco in their look. This one has the Irwin stamp on the back. This little rattle is a bright mint green with maroon paint for his eyes and comb. The first picture is the truest to his colors. He has no breaks or damage, and is shiny and bright. The only flaw that I found was that he has a tiny bit of chipping of the paint along the edge of his comb. He stands just under 3 1/2" tall. I have a number of early celluloid pieces by Irwin, as well as other hard plastic pieces for sale, so take a look!
