This large sculptured Royal Copenhagen porcelain figurine is titled \"Henrik and Else.\" It is believed to be the largest and best model of the Danish sculptor and Royal Copenhagen artist Holger Christensen. It measures 17in tall x 8in x 8in.It features two young lovers holding hands leaning on an old wooden fence. Else is dressed in a short sleeve blouse, wide waist band, full length skirt and wooden clogs. Her blond hair is in braids that hang down to her waist. Henrik wears a large floppy hat, blue shirt, gray trousers and also wooden clogs. This magnificent artistic sculpture stands 17 inches high on a sturdy 9 inch wide base. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or hairlines. The artist-sculptor Holger Christensen was born in 1890 and died in 1966. He worked for Royal Copenhagen from 1910 to 1960. He initially produced this sculpture circa 1930. It is one of six figurines he is known to have designed.The sculptor\'s monogram, in lower case, is found on the outside base in back, underneath Henriks right foot. Marked underneath with the Royal Copenhagen, Denmark stamp, three wavy lines and the number 3049. It has been out of production since circa 1980. This rare, large, artistically beautiful and charming porcelain figure would be a prize acquisition for the advanced collector of porcelain figurines, Royal Copenhagen collectors and specifically the works of Holger Christensen.
