This is a Very Unique Ca. 1882 L.A. Kiefer German Silver Free Spool Reel. Super clean with a rim mounted drag (weak) and rim mounted sliding free spool switch (functional). Has two patent dates on the face plate, I believe they are for the sliding free spool mechanisim and the rotating foot mechanism (has a replaced spring lever). An extremely well built reel....very solid and heavy and as nice looking as reels get!
