Like allexternal-horn Victor phonographs, the Victor II is considered very\"collectible\". Firstly, it isa great original; no restoration work has been done since it was new! Thecabinet, horn and all hardware are all original with the machine. The finish is100% untouched with a wonderful patina. It has the optional large Victor\"Spearpoint\" wood horn which matches the texture, shading andappearance of the cabinet exactly, which is not usually the case with most oakphonographs.
Finding a Victor II, whichwas a \"mid-priced\" machine, matched with the expensive optional oakSpearpoint horn is yet another strong point. The vast majority of Victor II\'swere sold with the basic brass horn or metal flower horn. This machine isremarkable in many ways, and is one of the better examples of this model wehave ever come across. The \"humpback\" name derives from the expandedback panel on the cabinet, which was produced for a few years to provide astrong support for the back bracket. Humpback machines are far less commonlyfound than examples with the standard cabinet.
Thenickel-plated hardware is solid, but the bright finish has dulled over time,and the nickel has worn-through in a few spots. It has been left it original condition, as most collectors prefer an untouchedmachine. The cabinet and horn finish, while showing just the slightest signs ofalligatoring, is very strong. Great original Victor decal is still on the horn.This machine is truly for the buyer looking for atotally originalearly Victor Phonograph withthe stunning Victor Spearpoint wood horn, and wants a great example.
It has the optional and highly desired\"smoothoak\" Victor wood horn and retains the original Victor decal, in goodcondition. This Victor looks absolutely spectacular, and has nothing tohide. It would be the center of attention in any room, and the authenticity ofthe restoration speaks for itself. Truly a gorgeous machine.
