Victorian Art Nouveau 9ct Gold Turquoise & Pearl Lavaliere, necklace C1895:

A pretty, Victorian, Art Nouveau, lavaliere necklace featuring a cabachon matrix Turquoise mounted in a gold rim setting on a knife edge bar in the centre of an open work mount.

The pendant is beautifully made in a foliate and scroll open work design and is decorated with six seed pearls. The pendant is completed with a matching gold pear-shaped drop "en tremblant" (in a trembling style).

The Turquoise is a natural gemstone in a vibrant blue colour displaying thecharacteristic, black matrix veins.

Hallmarked on the reverse: 9ct (denotes 9 carat gold).

Complete with new 9ct belcher link chain measuring 16" / 41cm.

The name Lavalier (also spelt lavalier or lavallière) derived from the name of the Duchesse de La Vallière (1644-1710), one of the mistresses of Louis XIV . The Duchesse favoured this style of necklace.

A beautiful historic piece of jewellery.

This Art Nouveau lavaliere will be delivered in a new beautiful black leatherette & velvet fitted double-door case as 24.5mm x 47mm (including bail)
