This isa great lookingVictoriansolid silver holder as pictured.Presumably it once held a thin glass fluted liner / vase in the top.

It has been hallmarked inSheffield during 1896 by top silversmiths Mappin & Webb.

This piecestands 4.5\" high andhas a3\" square base. Itweighs 5 7/8 ounces (168g) but I fully expect that the base is additionally weighted (hence the plug underneath).

There are the usual light / faint scratches that all silver objects tend to attract over the years but no particulardentsor dingsaround the bodywork as far as I can tell.
