Victorian Unger Bros Art Nouveau Repousse Dresser Jar Sterling Silver .925 Lid:
$94.00

For your consideration we are offering this amazing Victorian dresser jar. Unger Brothers were based in Newark, NJ and manufactured silver from 1872-1914. Here is a stunning example of their period work. Art Nouveau period style shows a lovely young lady picking petals from a daisy. Surely saying \"He loves me, He loves me not\" The repousee silver from this American company is greatly prized for the amazing attention to detail as can be seen on this piece. It is in outstanding condition with the large lid measuring approx 3 inches in diameter weighs 28 grams on my postal scale. The 4\" diameter jar is apparently an example of Quilted Phlox, an old pattern out of National Glass Co circa 1898, a pretty delicate pink glass cased in crystal, then satinized to give an interesting velvety look to the puffy quilted glass. There is what appears to be an impact defect which extends to rim, and a related crack 1\" away, descending from rim 1\" down into the body, with associated edge spall, but there is no repair or separation of the glass, it\'s very smooth on the inside., see image of rim with lid removed which shows it clearly. No worries, it is very stable. Lid is Marked with UBS Unger Brothers Silver logos and \".925 Sterling Silver\" Lid does have the expected small indentations around perimeter: none very large or obtrusive at all. The interior of lid is undamaged and undented. Overall a very attractive piece and unusual with the satin cased glass jar. Stands 4\" tall and 4\" wide: perfectly dimension-ed!
