Unusual Victorian rectangular silver locket by Revell & Co, fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1884. This lovely antique piece features an etched image of a man in shorts riding a Penny Farthing bicycle.The locket has a hinged lid which presses shut firmly and the interior contains original Victorian sweetheart photograph of a woman in ribboned bonnet and lace collar. The reverse is marked with the lion passant, the maker\'s mark R & Co, the date and city marks are rubbed and not possible to read. The inside of the lid is also stamped with the lion passant and a clear date mark for 1884. Complete with 62 inch silver muff / guard chain (unmarked) with dog tag clasp that is stamped BB.SS.This fabulous locket measures approx 2.7 x 2.1 cm and the combined weight of the locket and chain is 41g. Light surface marks in keeping with age and general use and would benefit from a gentle clean. In good, vintage condition with light surface marks in keeping with age and general use.
