For sale is a superb vintage handcrafted ALASKA yo-yo or bolo toy. This yo-yo is made with traditional Eskimo/Yupik/Inuit materials. Sealskin fur forms the conical shaped sack upper portions and deerskin for the bottom soles. Orange, red, green and white glass beads decorate the sides. A braided cord connects the two sacks to a tab made of seal skin. One cord is slightly longer than the other to allow the two sacks to pass each other as they fly around. This is a very fine piece.The overall length of this yo-yo is approximately 24 inches. Each conical shaped sack is approximately 3-1/2 inches long by 1-1/2 inches across the base.
This authentic and original piece is in excellent used vintage condition. The fur and skin are in very good condition. The bead work is solidly attached. All the seams are intact and solid. The braided cord is worn near where it connects to the holding tab but still solid. This can be seen in photograph 9.
