An extremely scarce original vintage poster celebrating the world travel of the Polish Scout, Jerzy Jelinski. Jerzy (George) Jelinski was a Polish Boy Scout scoutmaster who led an expedition around the world by automobile to promote good will among Boy Scouts. His journey lasted 28 months, and he traveled over 78,000 kilometers through Europe, Africa, America, and the Far East. Jelinski\'s journey garnered much publicity, with over 2000 newspaper articles printed about the scout & his travels at the time.His journey lasted from 1926 until 1928 - this poster is from 1930.This original poster is from Jelinski\'s homeland, Poland. The text is entirely in Polish. The poster advertises an upcoming screen viewing of over 300 slides taken of Jelinski\'s travels throughout the world.
The poster measures 37\" in length by 27.5\" in width. It is printed on a lightweight pink parchment paper - only slightly thicker than tissue paper.
The poster is in good condition considering its age and composition (the lightweight paper). There are numerous fold lines to the poster as it was folded fairly compactly while in storage for many decades. There is some discoloration and wear along these fold lines as can be expected. Also, there are some small holes at some of the intersections of the folds (see next to last photo for an example). The poster also has some other general wrinkling throughout - a byproduct of age and the lightweight parchment paper. There is a small tear near the lower left of the poster (see 3rd to last photo). There are also some very small tears to the edges of poster just from light handling.The pictures provide a very accurate depiction of the condition.
Considering the age and the distance this piece has traveled over its lifetime (from Poland to the US) - I would say that it has held up fairly well over the years.
