You are looking at a very rare Bruno Labs Inc Velocity Model VR HP Ribbon microphone produced during the 1930\'s out of New York. This mic is intact with all original parts, but cannot be tested as cable has been cut off at the base.
This Velocity mic has a strong deco influence and design reminiscent of the early ribbon mics being produced at that time with it\'s large front and rear screens allowing it bi-directional pickup. Comes with a standard mount thread mic yoke. Was purchased from a long time collector so I have no information as to it\'s working condition, but assume it does not produce a signal. As you can see in the pictures provided the original chrome finish is wrinkled, but the patina is quite beautiful and a stunning survivor from across the decades. The heavy mesh metal screen is in great condition front and back with no defects or discolorations. The yoke/stand has the universal 5/8\" thread Weighs just over a pound. Bruno was not in the microphone business for long, so these are rather scarce, and do not show up for sale very often.
This Bruno brand combines the principles of the ribbon microphone and the condenser microphone. It consists of a perforated plate covered by eight ribbons. This assembly is covered by another perforated plate. It then requires a polarizing voltage between 50 and 350 volts. It is a unique and unusual ribbon mic and would be a worthy addition to one\'s vintage collection.
