Vintage 1938 Art Deco Westinghouse \'Half Junior\' Coke Coca Cola Ice Chest Coca-Cola Vintage Cooler
This authentic, vintage, circa 1938 Coke cooler is one of the rarest and most difficult to find ice chests Coca- Cola produced. Manufactured by Westinghouse, this example would make a stunning centerpiece in any collection. like high-end vending machines or vintage cars, this cooler has bee masterfully restored to like-new condition and is almost how it appeared out of the bx in the 1930\'s. This is what a department or dry goods store would have in their window or on the shelf, pre-war.
This art deco styled ice chest is a counter top version (called the half junior) and is found on page 391 of Petretti Guide (12th edition). It is completely functional (like a restored vending machine), and could actually be used if the owner so desires.
The most obvious feature is the bright eye-popping Coca-Cola correct color. The Coca-Cola script is embossed on all four sides and, typical of the era, the word \'Drink\' is inset into the script. All seams are tight and intact. No pitting, rust, dents, warping or structural issues. the galvanized interior is clean and rust free. Lid fits snugly and has shiny, chromed handle. The lid is connected to a chain. A thick rubber gasket cushions the lid and creates a solid \'thud\' when closed. The original handles have been expertly re-chromed and are inset on both ends. The swing easily and make for convenient carrying. Thick rubber strips on the underside of cooler protects the bottom and surfaces it rests on. This particular model was restored over ten years ago and has been in climate controlled storage ever since.
Due to occasional transportation to shows there are a few smudges, marks and a small chip or two here and there but no serious scratches. One side has an area of low gloss but all the paint and color is intact. Displays beautifully and has a jaw-dropping \'wow\' factor in person.
This extremely rare piece of Coca-Cola history is for the discriminating collector or individual who wants a centerpiece for a Coke collection. This is the one you\'ve been waiting for. Manufactured by the Westinghouse Corporation, Springfield, Massachusetts.
