VINTAGE COOKBOOK LOT (2)Pair of historically interesting, and still very useful books from the 1940s.1) The Good Housekeeping Cook Book, 1944 (Photos #1 through #8): Thick hardcover with a whopping 981 pages, measuring 8-½” x 6” x 1-½”. Tons of great recipes, and also chock full of serving, cooking, and entertaining advice, plus some color photographs as well. Nice, detailed index. Edited by Dorothy B. Marsh. Completely revised Edition, Copyright 1942, 1944 by Hearst Magazines Inc. (Publishers of Good Housekeeping Magazine). Printed in the United States of America. In good shape, with some minor wear. Pages are clean, with no added writing, no highlighting, and no creasing. Light wear to the cover along the corners and edges. There is a split with some fraying along the crease inside on the first page, but the binding is tight. Excellent and comprehensive, vintage cook book, and much more, from Good Housekeeping!2) Borden’s Eagle Brand Magic Recipes, 1946 (Photos #1, #2, and #9 through #12): Tasty recipes using Borden’s Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk, in categories including pudding, custards, frostings, ice creams, sauces, mayonnaise, desserts, cookies, candies, and hot chocolate. Booklet measures 8-¾” by 6-½”, and there are 27 pages, with a handy index. Nice black & white photos of the dishes, plus color picture on the cover. Printed in U.S.A., 1946, The Borden Company. There is moderate wear, with light ceasing in places, tiny corner bends (dog ears) on a few pages, and some tiny tears along the edges. The binding is still secure, with the staples firmly in place. There is some discoloration from aging, and a few modest stains, but it is pretty clean overall and the color is still good. Handy little booklet, with excellent dairy recipes!Two collectible World War II era cooking / recipe books, approximately 70 years old each, which can still be utilized with great success today!Book lot (2) will weigh 2-3 pounds when carefully packed in a secure box.
