This sale is for a 1952 Howdy Doody Marionette by Peter Puppet designed by Raye Copeland. What sets this puppet apart from the rest? It appears to have never (or rarely) been played with. While the box is well worn, the puppet is NOT. He is approximately 17\" in length. Rarer still - it has its original Unitrol Control, original strings and is in perfect working condition. This has the glass eyes, not the painted ones. See the photos for the closeups of overall condition. The slightest noted defects are minor crazing on the right boot (on the bottom). Notice also there are no scratch or scuff marks on the hands or on the feet (most do when they were played with). This further convinces me that it was a display piece or stored away. There are two tiny cracks at the jawline (lower) as shown in the photos but you have to look very close to see them. The overall appearance is STUNNING. This is a beautiful piece for the finicky puppeteers or Howdy Doody Collectors! I\'ve done my best to describe it (so see all of the closeups I have added for your help in offerding on this RARE find! Not bad for 62 years old. I\'m starting the offerding at $175 because of the pristine condition (and ). While several of these have come to market in the last few years. This is the best condition puppet I have seen. A few look decent, until super size pictures and see defects. 30% Price Reduction!
