A rare, vintage 1950s wooden DOEPKE childs toy.

Made in the United States.

Design is: DOEPKE \"Tumble Bell\"

This toy is made of wood and the bell inside is made of metal. It is called the \"TUMBLE BELL\".

The toy is painted bright colors; A redouterbar, a blue outer bar, a green outer bar and a yellow outer bar. The green outer bar says \"DOEPKE\".

Each end is a round, red piece of wood.

There is one (1) wider, flat piece of wood on the outside that is painted white and says \"TUMBLE BELL\" in blue paint vertically down it. There are also three (3) blue dots on each side of this piece.

There are five (5) pegs inside; a red peg, a green peg, a white peg, a yellow peg and two (2) blue pegs.

There is one (1) silver, metal bell inside.

This toy was put out bya company called DOEPKE. The DOEPKE TOY COMPANY was started in 1947 and shutdown in 1959.

Doepke Model Toyshave delighted kids for decades and are nowthe envy of toy collectors everywhere. Based nearCincinnati,Ohio, Doepke (pron.\"dep key\") made several different types of toys ranging from modelautomobiles such as theMG,1955Jaguar,afire engine, trains (big enough to ride on) and construction vehicles. The toys are noted for their remarkable realism.In1946, Charles W. Doepke with his assistant and brother Fredrick started theDoepke Toy Company inOakley, Ohio,a neighborhood in Cincinnati. In 1950 production was moved toRossmoyne, Ohio.Being so soon after the conclusion of World War II, many toys available at thetime reflected a war theme. In contrast to this trend, the Doepkes wereencouraged by their grandmother to create toys that were not war-related.Thepopularity of Doepke toys among children in the 1950s was likely bolstered bytheir uncanny realism. Yet, this appeal was not necessarily limited to children.

In1959, due to an increase in lower cost competitors and a rise in steel costscoupled with the companies inability to create the same realism with wood toys,Doepke was forced to shut down.

Today, there are many collectors of Doepke toys.

This makes the wooden toys very rare to Doepkecollectors.

Measurements are:

The toy measures almost 6 inches tall.

It is 2 1/2 inches round at the top and the bottom piece of wood shaped like a circle.

Condition is:

GREAT

This toy is in great, working condition. It has been played with so it isn\'t in perfect condition.

1. The top of the \"E\" in \"BELL\" is faded (but not missing)

2. The green paint is showing through the center of where \"DOEPKE\" is painted on the outer green peg.

3. The bare wood is showing through on the edges of both round, red ends.

I\'m assuming it\'s from a child rolling the toy on the floor/ground over the years.

All parts are original.
