Vintage 20s Triple Irish Chain Postage Stamp Antique Quilt MINT with Provenance:

This quilt is in exquisite condition. It was lovingly stored- wrapped in a linen closet. If it ever saw use- it was display only! The quilting on it is wonderful- please take a good look at the pictures! The squares measure 1 1/2\" x 1 1/2\". The quiltmeasures approximately 82\" x 96\". All the pieces feel like cotton. There are straight line, grid, bow tie, and pinwheel designs quilted throughout at an even 8-9 stitches to the inch. The batting is thin.
The note, which will be included with this quilt, reads:
1/25/98This quilt was hand made for me by my father\'s aunts, who lived on a farm inIowa, as he did when he was a boy. We still own his family\'s farm in central Iowa.Every piece of the quilt was cut & sewn by hand, as was the quilting. Except for the yellow backing and edging, almost all the pieces are from clothes I wore as a child. Since they were usually hand made, my mother hadpieces left over. In many cases the clothes were hand-me-downs from my older cousin. In thosecases we sniped samples from the insides of hems. Mary Helen HansenThe backing of the quilt is solid yellow. I am guessing on the pattern, so any experienced quilter can please correct me if I got it wrong, and I will fix the listing!
