Collector\'s True Vintage 1950\'s Wall Plaque Set of 4 Mid Century Figurines ~ Mermaid Mom & Babies

This adorable mermaid family of Mom and 3 babies is from an estate collection. They have no signatures or manufacturer\'s markings, but have been verified as true vintage by the estate\'s owner. Her family purchased them in the 1940\'s or 50\'s, and had them hanging on the wall in their San Francisco home. I have seen very similar, collectible figurines attributed to various manufacturers and artists -- Lefton, Norcrest, Freeman McFarlin,Joty,etc. -- but it is likely they were made in Japan and sold in dime stores. This set is quite lovely, and personally, I prefer it to the others I\'ve seen that are embellished with shells, glitter and sequins! They are painted with realistic, softly shaded, rosy beige skin tones, yellow/blonde hair, and mottled green tails. Their beautiful faces have blue eyes, red lips, and rosy cheeks. All have metallic gold accents on their tails, and 2 babies hold gold accessories (mirror, comb or brush and musical lyre). I don\'t know how to determine whether theyare made of chalkware, plaster or ceramic.The glaze on their hair, tails and accessories is higher gloss. They have not been cleaned, and I will leave that to the discretion of the buyer.

Approximate measurements at widest points: Mother Mermaid: 8-1/2\"x 3-1/2, Lyre Baby: 5-1/2\" x 3, Mirror Baby: 5-1/4\" x 3, Hand on Chin Baby: 5\" x 2-3/4\"

Condition: Very Good to Excellent, almost no paint loss or crazing. Please Note: No visible chips or cracks, but --based on other sets and molds I\'ve seen--one of the babies originally was to have held an arrow or rattle. The owner says this piece was always like this. These charming vintage collectibles will make a lovely addition to bath, child\'s or baby\'s room, or your mermaid collection!
