Vintage 70-80\'s Lex Billie Navajo Silver Turquoise Talon Claw Sterling Bracelet:
$92.00

Up for sale is a Native American Silver piece fashioned into a cuff style bracelet, marked on the reverse for identification with the offset initials: LB (Lex Billie, Navajo) STERLING. It is for a larger medium or larger sized wrist with a wear size of 7 1/4\" including the gap (measuring end to end 5 13/16\" plus 1 7/16\" gap) and weighs almost 1 ozt (or 29.9 g) on a digital scale prior to packing. It is rigid, not readily flexible, and made of two triangular wires, splaying across the front where there is back plate construction underneath and, fused along the terminals. The asymmetrical face design is layered with hand fabricated leaf or feather designs which are chased with bead tip applied wire decoration. One side has lobed bezel set 8/26 mm blue turquoise with black matrix and a dot or two of metallic (probably Morenci material); and the other has an oyster colored claw (badger? New Mexican bear?) or talon of a predatory bird (hawk? owl? or similar...). The way in which it is mounted-the bed and underside are not view-ablenor can the full arch or curl of the piece be evaluated - I can only tell you it is organic material. Maybe just looking at the pics you will know what it is, claw or talon, which has been incorporated into this design. This bracelet was sourced from a private San Leandro silver collection beyond this there is no further known history on this particular piece.

Please review images for your take on age, design andcondition. From styling it looks late 1970\'s to mid-80\'s to my way of thinking, you will have the ultimate call in this regard. Tastefully rendered silver work is fine and precise, a one of a kind design with its \'curious\' use of \'stones\'. The turquoise has a rough cut crown which is filed smooth and took a good glossy polish and claw straight from Nature is an oyster gray with a luminous sheen -- these stones compliment one another by the color, cut and finish yet are so different and mounted accordingly, in opposing direction. For those (of us) who love the claw thing sometimes found on Native American work (and I do) will have an appreciation of this particular cuff. Actually from a gentlemen\'s collection yet if it were much smaller in wear size I, who am female, would sport it without question and carry on like nobody\'s business. I find it to be acreative design with attention to detailing. Condition issue: stone contains \'hairline\' fissure(s) which I find non-distracting. This condition does not seem troublesome since the stone is steadfast in the bezel and not readily seen when the piece is worn and certainly not cracked apart. The best enlarged or close-up images I could get are Pics 6 and 7 - please review them so you may comfortably concur with my finding as the issue not being a major problem yet important to point out for your preview. And there you have it. Any interest in adding to your wearable collection Native American Silver? It is listed in a saleformat with low opening offer, if you like it please place your offer(s) while youare here. Thanks!
